I'd like to share with you this story. A client of the last 5 years asked in her initial consultation why more people don't understand the affect hair loss can have on women. We agreed that if you've never overeaten in your life you don't understand why others overeat. If you've never been a smoker, you don't understand why people smoke. If you've never had a drink, or you drink socially and are not addicted to alcohol, you may not understand why you can take a drink and not have a problem with stopping, but someone else might.

We know that having hair or losing hair is the same lottery hereditarily. In some cases, we even inherit other physical, emotional, or chemical imbalances along with the physical aspect of hair-loss. Hereditarily, if your mother, father or someone in your family is experiencing hair-loss, there's a 50% chance you will too.

You may also experience hair-loss as the first and only person in your life. This could be due to menopause, stress or medications, or just part of the process our hair goes through as we age. And for some of us, there is no medical reason for explaining why we loose our hair - we just know we're loosing it, and we are dealing with the reality that it may never return.

Taking back control of our lives is as significant to hair-loss as the hair-loss itself. We've seen women who appear to have so much control of their lives, but not having the hair they've always wanted makes them feel totally out of control. Taking control of our life means accepting our hair in the state it is so we can be free to make it what we want it to be.
