Linda's Story
My name is Linda Aguirre and this is my story. I tell it with
some embarrassment but with true hopes to help anyone that
suffers from trichotillomania.
I remember it like
it was yesterday. One day in December (I was twelve years
old at the time), I was sitting on the couch watching TV by
myself. My scalp was itching due to some dandruff. I had an
unexplainable urge to pull my hair in that area. I did, and
continued pulling my hair for the next 10 minutes. Every time
I pulled I felt like I was in a trance. I was not aware of
anything around me. I remember thinking to myself that I was
going crazy. I would always promise myself and pray to never
do it again, but every night I would pull my hair just about
until my hand cramped.
From then on my
life was miserable. I had to spend hours in the bathroom to
come up with a new, crazy hairdo to cover my bald spots. I
dreaded going to school - everyone stared, but most of all
the kids would make fun of me. My family didn't really tell
me anything until it was very noticeable that I had problem.
I lied to my parents and told them that my hair was falling
out; I was afraid to tell them I was pulling my hair. I thought
they would think I was crazy. My parents always wanted to
help me but I would push them away.
When I turned 17
I was sick and tired of everything and decided to shave my
hair bald. I t was great because 5 months later I had a head
full of hair, and I knew that my hair would still grow. But
then I pulled my hair again, and then once again decided to
shave. I continued that way until recently.
At
18, I became pregnant and soon after I married. I lied
to my husband also but it became hard to hide my hair
pulling. I was afraid of whar he would think or that he
would leave me. Once he knew, he was very supportive and
was willing to help me try anything that would get me
to stop pulling my hair. <

Wearing Klassic's method of hairweaving,
Linda's natural hair is returning.
